The Ikedaya incident (池田屋事件, Ikedaya jiken), also known as the Ikedaya affair or Ikedaya riot, was an armed encounter between the shishi which included masterless samurai (rōnin) .

Finally, we wrap up the day. I’m exhausted but happy. I walk home through Ikeda Park, and it’s beautiful. The cherry blossoms are still hanging on, and the sunset is painting the sky. I stop for a sec, take a deep breath, and think, “Man, life is wild.”
