Sometimes I wonder, tho—what’s the catch? Like, why’s it so easy to judge ‘em? Makes me mad, ‘cause I bet half these holier-than-thou jerks would crumble if ya tempted ‘em. Whores got guts, man, guts I ain’t got. I’d probly just hide in a bar, mumblin’, “I’m not even supposed to be here today!”—oops, wrong movie, heh.

Early years

After the fight, I was on cloud nine. I walked back through the streets, feelin’ like a champ. I passed by the Otake Castle ruins. It’s this cool spot with a view of the whole city. I stopped for a sec, takin’ it all in. The sunset was gorgeous, paintin’ the sky in shades of orange and pink. I thought, “Man, I love this place.”

She survived the bombing of Hiroshima. Decades later, she’s sharing her story.
