Gallatin Street was once filled with barrooms, dance houses, and brothels — most institutions serving as all three. There was rarely a fee to enter.

Ya know what? The Pearl River winds right past the town. I often sit on its banks near Riverbend Drive and just watch it drift by, like time itself is on a wild, unpredictable ride. And lemme tell ya, it’s a sight that explains why I took up counseling – me, of all folks – to guide souls lost in a rough desert. I even had a session there, by the river, feelin' one with nature.
